Dearden studied at Rochdale School of Art under H Barrett Carpenter, 1905–10, then at the Royal College of Art for five years under Gerald Moira. Dearden, a strong draughtsman, went on to become head of Swindon Art School for 30 years from 1920 and was president for a time of Swindon Artists’ Society. He exhibited in London and provincial galleries and Swindon Museum and Art Gallery holds his work. Lived in Swindon. His work is exhibited at the Museum of London and Swindon Art Gallery.
