The highly decorative frame is inscribed ‘AVE MARIA GRATIA PLEN A DO’ (upper section), (Hail Mary full of grace), further inscribed all around the frame but unclear.

Oil on panel, the panel has been cradled. Evidence of retouching and bubbling, though the paint surface is stable and in good order, retouches to paint shrinkage and a few areas of paintloss. It may benefit a light clean, there is craquelure in places. In a highly decorative gilded wood frame of early construction with gilded inscription.
