'Olympia' 1892

An advertising poster for a review at the Boulevard des Capucines.

Jules Cheret is often referred to as the father of the modern poster, a master in the Belle Epoque. This is one of his more popular works and comes in condition that reflects the age.

Condition: It has been backed on to canvas and there are several loosely repaired losses, tears, dents, folds and creases. The colours are reasonably good although the paper has oxidisation and some glue stains but this is reflected in the asking price.
