Fourie was a French painter who painted Romantic subjects mainly associated with classical beauty, many of his subjects were maidens. This example details young beauties offering garlands of flowers to a statue of Cupid under the canopy of the forest beyond. The verdant greens and browns highlight the rich pinks and oranges of the togas and the subtle pinks of the flesh tones.
